The Octagon
Washington, DC
This project consisted of an extensive renovation to this eighteenth century building originally designed as a house. The building later was used by President James Madison (in which he signed the Treaty of Ghent) and is presently owned by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for use as a house museum and for special exhibits. The fire protection system originally consisted of a partial wet sprinkler system which was converted to a dry, pre-action system. The electrical system includes new service entrance equipment, feeders, panels and branch circuits. The building is equipped with full fire alarm and security coverage.
