Barton Hall: This project included the design of a new freshman residence hall with 196 dorm rooms at the Rensselaer Campus in Troy, NY. The building is 4-stories and is constructed of masonry bearing walls and pre-cast concrete floors. The building was completed in just over a year for approximately $9 million. The building provides 13 private conference rooms to support team project curricula. The large fourth floor lounge accommodates large group meetings. The amenities include laundry facilities, copy rooms, pre-wired telecommunications, full sprinkler and fire alarm protection. Quantum Engineering provided all M/E/P/FP design and construction phase services.
Freshman Dining Hall: This project included the renovation of the existing Dining Hall as well as the replacement of the existing chiller serving the Dining Hall and surrounding Dormitories. The Dining Hall and servery were fully renovated with new seating areas, hot and cold serving area, and Grill area. The existing HVAC systems were removed and new systems with VAV control connected to the campus temperature control system were installed. In order to serve the additional electric load for the chiller the existing 4160V electric service entrance was upgraded. A new 300 kva, 4160/480v transformer and fused switches were installed to serve the building and the adjacent dormitories. A separate 500 kva, 4160/480v transformer was installed in the mechanical equipment room with a new motor control center to serve the mechanical loads.
